Amazing & Healthy Chili Cheese Dogs

I had a craving for chili cheese dogs, however, as I'm watching what I'm eating, I wanted to make them healthy.
I head over to Raley's to get some ingredients to begin my idea...the deconstructed chili cheese dog.
Recipe:
1 can of Amy's organic chili
applegate hot dogs
1 yellow onion
shredded cheese
sour cream or Greek yogurt

I microwaved my chili as I was hungry and wanted to eat pretty quick. Fyi: medium was not spicy.

These hot dogs are amazing! Delicious and full of flavor and oh look...healthy stuff.

Slice open your hot dogs, but not all the way. Grill up on the barbecue for a couple of minutes.
Optional: cut your onion in half and grill on barbecue for 5 minutes. Or chop it up and use it raw on your chili cheese dog. FYI: grilled onion was amazing!

I decided to go bun-less. Mostly because Raley's was out of the gluten free hot dog buns, but that's ok! It led to my creation of the deconstructed chili dog.
I put 2 hot dogs on my plate, covered them with the chili, sprinkled the cheese on top along with grilled onion and some light sour cream. Mmmmmmm.

For a side dish, I purchased country potato salad. It had a lot of eggs in it. Fine with me...protein.
